Anansi Boys

Anansi Boys is a very unique book. The main character is half god, his father is Anansi the mischievous god of Spiders. The Main Character Charlies personality is split in too and made into too separate people. The too people being Charlie the timid more normal Human side, and Spider his outgoing more godly personality. The conflict in the book is mainly between the two "brothers". Spider takes Charlies fiance and ruins Charlies normal average life. The brothers eventually solve the conflict in the end and all this is resolved. The Conflict represents the battle in ones self. The battle of what choices to make, what things to do, and what decisions to make. In the end Charlie becomes a confident man and all internal conflict is put to peace and Charlie becomes more self confident and outgoing. Spider becomes more mature and less wild and immature.

Charlie hated his father Anansi in the beginning of the book. His dad would play tricks on him and in Charlies mind make fun of him, almost bully him. Anansi's personality is mischievous and uses a lot of trickery that Gaiman shows when he writes short stories in the book to give you background on the gods. All that he did he did out of love for Charlie and Charlie see's how his father is and realizes how much his father actually did for him, how much Anansi loved him. IN the end Charlie resolves the conflict with his dad and his internal conflict with him. Charlie becomes more like Anansi and even wheres his fathers old fedora and gets his own Fedoras.
